Introduction to Commercial Dryers

The commercial dryer is a productive piece of equipment that is used to dry large amounts of clothing quickly. The combination of hot air circulation, drum rotation, and an intelligent control system forms the basis of its drying principle, effectively and quickly evaporating the moisture from garments. The core drying principle of a commercial dryer is to use hot air to evaporate the moisture in the clothes. The heating system of the dryer heats the air to a preset temperature, usually through electric heating, gas heating, or steam heating. Driven by the fan, the hot air enters the drum and comes into direct contact with the clothes, thereby accelerating the evaporation of moisture.

The efficient air circulation system evenly distributes the hot air in the drum, ensuring that every piece of clothing is fully exposed to the hot air. This circulation method can dry large quantities of clothing in a shorter time and improve work efficiency.

Rotation of the Drum

The drum is the main structure inside the dryer, and the clothes are placed in the drum and rotated with it. The rotation of the drum causes the clothes to tumble continuously, ensuring that the hot air can fully contact each piece of fabric. This rotational movement prevents the clothes from sticking together and increases the uniformity of drying.

As the drum rotates, the clothes tumble continuously in it, which not only prevents the clothes from accumulating too much moisture in one place but also allows the hot air to contact every corner of the clothes. The uniform heat distribution accelerates the evaporation of moisture and improves the drying efficiency.

Commercial dryers usually have a large drum capacity and can handle more clothes at a time. This large capacity design enables them to adapt to the large-scale drying needs of places such as hotels, hospitals, and laundries.

Humidity and Temperature Control System

Modern commercial dryers are equipped with advanced humidity and temperature control systems to optimize the drying process. These sensors monitor the humidity and temperature in the drum in real-time, ensuring that the device adjusts the drying process according to the actual dryness of the clothes.

● Humidity Sensor

The humidity sensor monitors the moisture content in the air in real time. When the sensor detects that the humidity in the drum drops to the set value, the dryer automatically adjusts the heating time or ends the drying process. This function avoids overdrying, which protects the clothes and saves energy.

● Temperature Sensor

The temperature sensor ensures that the air temperature inside the drum is kept within a reasonable range. If the temperature is too high, the dryer will reduce the heating intensity to avoid damage to the clothes; if the temperature is too low, the dryer will increase the heating power to ensure a smooth drying process.

Exhaust and Filtration System

Exhaust systems are also usually equipped with filters to capture impurities such as lint and fibers that fall off from clothes. The Ancillary Equipment Required for a Wet Cleaning Machine

Wet washing technology is a complete process, from washing, and drying to ironing. Different processes need different equipment. Today, let’s discuss what other equipment is needed in this complete technical process despite the wet washing machines.

Wet washing machines

Firstly, wet washing machines are the pieces of equipment that are used in the wet washing process. We’ve discussed how to choose a good wet washing machine in a previous article. There is an additional alert. It is a necessity to have a dispenser that can more precisely add a certain quantity of wet washing detergents. There are two main dispensers: peristaltic pump and venturi. They can all add laundry detergents punctually and quantitatively, more precisely than manual addition. Also, in the wet washing process, professional wet washing detergents are needed because there are professional fiber protective agents in the detergents, which can form a colorless and transparent protective film on the fiber surface during the washing and rinsing process. The fiber surface wrapped by the protective film becomes smoother. During the washing and drying process, it can effectively reduce the friction between fabrics and drums to reduce the occurrence of discoloration, pilling, shrinkage, etc.

Dryers

The wet washing technology requires the dryers to have a humidity control function. The dryers can set the degree of drying according to different fabrics. Because there is an ironing task after drying, there must be some water in the fibers to make the fibers maintain their elasticity to make preparations for the following stretch. Dryers that are equipped with humidity control can better control the moisture content. 

The dryers need to be equipped with precise temperature control. Wet washing technology is widely applied to sensitive fabrics like wool, cashmere, silk, and so on. These kinds of fabrics are sensitive to temperature. If the temperature is high, then problems like shrinkage and fading will show up. As a result, the dryers that match the wet washing should be able to control the temperature error range within ±2°C. This can effectively avoid laundry accidents like shrinkage and fading.

The wet cleaning process requires that the drum speed of the dryer be adjustable. The capacity of the dryers’ inner drums is larger than that of the wet washing machines’ inner drums. Sensitive fabrics will be deformed, partly or in whole, under the mechanical forces of the dryers. As a result, the controllable drum speed of the drying drum is essential for these fabrics. The preferred range is 20–60 rpm.

Ironing equipment

The wet washing technology still needs specialized form finishers and pants blowers. It is normal for some fabrics to have 3% or less shrinkage. When the clothes are not dry enough, stretching will bring the clothes back to their original form. Form finishers and pants blowers have the stretch function and can quickly iron and stretch the clothes with a certain humidity after drying. The ironing effect is beautiful, and the size of the clothes before wet cleaning can be effectively restored through stretching.
